Jersey Day
•    Jersey Day on Friday 23rd September raised €440 for GOAL and Westmeath Ladies GAA Football team.  Two past-pupils, Sinéad Walker and Laura Walsh are members of the Westmeath team which will play Cavan in the All-Ireland Intermediate Final replay in Croke Park this Sunday.

Safety
•    A small number of children attending the school are allergic to nuts.  In the interest of these children’s well-being, I would ask parents not to include nuts in their child’s lunch.
•    School Bus: Please encourage your child to exercise care, be of good behaviour and be courteous to the driver and classmates while on the bus.  Seat belts must be worn – please advise your child accordingly.
•    Laces: Children should ensure that their laces are tied at all times especially when taking part in activities e.g. football, basketball etc.

Stay Safe Programme
•    All classes will be covering the Stay Safe Programme this year.  Please visit www.staysafe.ie for information about the programme or contact the school.

School Bags
•    To reduce the weight of school bags, children should only bring home the books/copies they need for homework.

Copies / Photocopying / Art etc.
•    Any amounts owed to the school relating to the above should be paid, if possible, before the mid-term break.

School Closures
•    Thursday 27th October: School is being used as a polling station for the Presidential Election.
•    Monday 31st October to Friday 4th November: Mid-term break.
•    The schedule of closures for the remainder of the year is below.

Board of Management
•    A new Board of Management will be appointed in November.  Information regarding the election of the two Parents’ Representatives will be forwarded later this month.

“Going Home” Arrangements
•    The teacher should be informed if there is a change in your child’s “going home arrangement” on a particular evening e.g. visiting a friend’s house.  A verbal communication from the child won’t suffice.
